Two New Full Time Police Officers To Patrol Downtown SLO In The Beginning Of The New Year

Two new police officers will be patrolling downtown San Luis Obispo after the new year. The full-time officers will be on bikes, on foot or in their vehicles patrolling the downtown core and nearby residential area during the day. They will be dealing with illegal behavior such as aggressive panhandling, public disturbances and vandalism.
"Part of their responsibility as well is to work with the business owners to try and build that relationship, community orientating policing and really establish a way to deal with these types of problems and find solutions long term for them," said San Luis Obispo Police Captain Christopher Staley. The two new officers start on January 2nd.
