It’s been learned that two people were killed in the plane crash off the coast of Oceano Tuesday afternoon. One was 63-year-old Dave Casey, a highly ranked American Airlines commercial pilot and officer in the Air National Guard. The other person on board has not been identified. NTSB officials have confirmed that a Morrisey 2150 aircraft registered to Casey took off from Santa Maria Airport around 1:30 p.m. on Tuesday.
Casey was from Friday Harbor, Washington according to a wallet found at the crash site. He also owns property in Avila Beach. Sonar boats from the San Luis Obispo County Sheriff's Department are still looking for further evidence, including the bodies and the plane. The S.O. says the sonar boat has located several targets they plan to investigate over the next several days.
