It appears that Morro Bay will be looking for a new city attorney. Last night, the city council voted 3 to 2 to allow Robert Shultz to be separated from staff with an agreement without much detail. Shultz is not being fired according to the mayor. In September, the council approved $12,500 to hire a legal counsel Simas and Associates, a law firm out of San Luis Obispo, to advise them on matters involving the city attorney and the city manager. Dozens came out and spoke in support of Schultz and also in support of City Manager Andrea Leuker whom the council wants to let go as well. The council will hold a special open session meeting on Friday at 9am to discuss the search for an interim city attorney.
