Fireworks Now on Sale in Certain Cities

Safe and sane fireworks are now on sale in local cities where they're allowed. You must be at least 16-years old to buy safe and sane fireworks. Safe and sane fireworks can be used until July 5, and only in Santa Maria, Guadalupe, Lompoc, San Miguel, Templeton, Arroyo Grande, Grover Beach, and Oceano. Local police say people caught using illegal fireworks, like those that shoot into the air, can face criminal charges and fines up to two-thousand dollars. For those who'd rather have someone else light the fireworks, large community shows will take place on July 4 at the Paso Robles City Park, Cayucos Pier, Shamel Park in Cambria, Tidelands Park in Morro Bay, Pismo Beach Pier, and Santa Maria Fairpark.

The Pismo Beach Police Department wishes everyone a happy and safe 4th of July celebration.  Again this year, the City will host a fireworks display off the end Pismo Beach Pier beginning at approximately 9:15 PM. The Police Department wants to remind everyone attending this celebration that ALL FIREWORKS (including “Safe and Sane”) are illegal in the City of Pismo Beach.  The Pismo Beach Police Department will be very proactive in preventing fireworks from entering the beach area and will be strictly enforcing all illegal fireworks violations.  If an officer observes anyone in possession of fireworks, the fireworks will be immediately seized. Illegal fireworks detonated and ignited on the beach are extremely dangerous and pose a serious threat to the safety of all families on the beach, who simply want to enjoy a beautiful fireworks display.

Westbound Pomeroy at Cypress will be closed at 4:00 AM and remain closed until approx. midnight.  Only emergency vehicles will be allowed through to access the pier area.  The pier parking lot will also be closed at this time. Westbound Hinds at Cypress will be closed at noon.  All entry into the area will be restricted to authorized vehicles only.  Vehicles will be permitted to exit.
