Swiss Chalet Steakhouse Caught Fire Yesterday

The Swiss Chalet steakhouse on North Broadway in Santa Maria caught fire yesterday morning about 11.   Fire officials say the small blaze was found above the front door.  to the bar area . Apparently exposed wiring from a neon sign started the fire.  The restaurant will stay open. The bar will need to be repaired.

Grover Beach is considering a ban on medical marijuana cultivation. It follows the steps of other local cities. Recent state legislation is causing cities across the state to deal with the issue. Rollover Crash on Highway 101 Leaves One Person Injured

One person suffered moderate injuries after a rollover crash on Highway 101 just south of the Nojoqui Grade in Santa Barbara County. The crash happened just after 4:00 p.m. Monday in the northbound lanes. The crash caused one lane of the highway to be shut down for a while. The CHP is investigating the cause of the accident.

The San Luis Obispo Elks Lodge was broken into late last week. Several gift items for teens were stolen. One volunteer said packages were ripped open and about a thousand dollars in gift cars were taken. No word yet on who the thief was. But the community stepped up to fill the void. The Santa Barbara County Sheriff’s Office is investigating a string of auto burglaries and thefts from autos in the Orcutt area.   Items were stolen out of at least ten vehicles the past two nights.  About half of the vehicles were unlocked and the other half had broken windows.  Stolen items included purses, wallets, laptops and holiday presents.  In all of …
