First arriving engines found a fire in the backyard of a single family residence. The fire was initially burning a ¼ acre of grass and involved a residential 172 gallon propane tank. The tank was venting propane which was burning. The fire also extended into an outbuilding located near the propane tank.
Fire crews quickly worked to contain the fire to the outbuilding and propane tank and stopped the spread of the grass fire to nearby residences. The fire was extinguished in the outbuilding and the propane tank was cooled as all propane in the tank vented and burned off. The building was unoccupied at the time of the fire.
