Prostitution Sting in Pismo Beach


On Wednesday, June 11th, the Pismo Beach Police Department with the assistance of a San Luis Obispo Police Department, conducted a coordinated selective enforcement detail designed to target prostitution at local massage parlors. 
An undercover Investigator responded to China Massage located at 1321 Price St. to investigate allegations of prostitution.

Posing as a customer, the undercover Investigator asked for a sexual favor in which the masseuse, 55-year-old Deng Ling of Fresno, agreed to the sexual act in exchange for money. Soldier Dies of Heart Attack During Training Exercise at Camp Roberts


A staff sergeant with the California Army National Guard died Wednesday night after showing signs of a heart attack during a training exercise at Camp Roberts, officials say.They say Raul Escobedo, 41, from Fullerton, was taken to a San Luis Obispo hospital after soldiers tried to revive him around 10:30 p.m. They say he was on an off-shift at the time.

Earlier that evening, they say Escobedo was taken to another hospital in the area after having chest pains, but was checked out and released.Officials say Escobedo's wife, who is also a National Guardsman, was flown to the hospital shortly after he died. Sheriff’s Youth Camp Schedule Announced


The San Luis Obispo County Sheriff's Office is pleased to announce the summer schedule for this year's Sheriff's Youth Camps. This year there will be three camps for elementary and middle school children. The first camp will be held June 16 through 20 at Mesa Middle School in Arroyo Grande. 

The camps are part of a violence prevention program taught by trained law enforcement officers. The summer camps are free and provide fun activities and games while teaching children how to avoid taking part in bullying, violence and gangs. Arrest Made in Sexual Assault Case


On 6-9-14, Detectives with the Sheriff's Sexual Assault Unit served an arrest warrant at a residence in the 100 block of E. Teft Street in Nipomo. Detectives had information that a small, unlicensed day care center was being operated out of that residence and that one of the children at the residence had been sexually assaulted over the course of the past year.

The victim in this case is a 5-year-old child. Detectives arrested the day care operator's husband, 66-year-old Adam Aguirre of Nipomo. Fire in Atascadero


First arriving engines found a fire in the backyard of a single family residence. The fire was initially burning a ¼ acre of grass and involved a residential 172 gallon propane tank.  The tank was venting propane which was burning.  The fire also extended into an outbuilding located near the propane tank. 

Fire crews quickly worked to contain the fire to the outbuilding and propane tank and stopped the spread of the grass fire to nearby residences.  The fire was extinguished in the outbuilding and the propane tank was cooled as all propane in the tank vented and burned off.  The building was unoccupied at the time of the fire. Department of Justice Looking into Capps’ Office


A spokesperson for U.S. Representative Lois Capps told KSBY on Wednesday that the U.S. Department of Justice is looking into their office. "Our understanding is the Department of Justice (DOJ) has opened a fact-finding inquiry into events that occurred following the tragic accident on December 6, 2013," Chris Meagher, Capps' press secretary, wrote in a statement. In December of last year, one of Capps' staffers at the time, Raymond Morua, was involved in a drunk driving crash that killed 27-year-old Mallory Rae Dies.

City Planning Commission Hearing Tomorrow


The San Luis Obispo City Planning Commission is holding a hearing on the land use and circulation elements update tomorrow. Back in January, the City Council endorsed a set of changes that council members will evaluate through the environmental review process. The city's General Plan is basically a blueprint for the city's future. In May, City officials invited the community to see some of the proposed changes at a future fair. City officials are trying to figure out how to deal with a growing population and adjust traffic within the city and on Highway 101.

Nipomo Man Arrested for Sexually Assaulting Child


Child-with-Mom-Safe-SecureAccording to Detectives with the San Luis Obispo Sheriff's Office Sexual Assault Unit, A Nipomo man has been arrested for sexually assaulting a child under 10 years old. 66-year-old Adam Leija Aguirre of Nipomo was arrested just after noon on Monday.

Aguirre’s wife runs a small, unlicensed at the home but say they don't believe she was involved in the assault. The investigation is ongoing. A state agency that licenses daycare facilities has also begun their own investigation. Police Search for Bank Robber


Police say they are still looking for the man who robbed a Grover Beach bank yesterday morning. Just after 10:30 a.m., Grover Beach police say a man entered the back entrance of Rabobank at 899 W. Grand Avenue, waited in line to see a bank teller, displayed a black semi-automatic pistol, then fled through the front door with an undisclosed amount of money.

Police are looking for an Asian man, 5 ft. 6 in. to 5 ft. 9 in. in height and approximately 150 pounds. They say he was wearing a gray hoodie, dark baseball cap and blue jeans that were dirty.
