Several fires have been reported in the past few days. 50 acres burned near the Rock Front Ranch outside of Santa Maria. Air tankers were used since ground fighting was not accessible. No cause yet. Police Search For Man Who Escaped From Santa Maria Police Station

Santa Maria police, with some embarrassment, are looking for 24-year-old Juan Coria Olayo, who slipped out of his handcuffs while he was unattended at the police station. Police Arrest Second Fugitive Wanted In Carpinteria Car Chase

19-Year-Old Arrested In Connection With Beached Panga Boat Containing $4 million in Pot

Beached Humpback Whale Buried At Oceano Dunes

A young humpback whale is now buried at Oceano Dunes.  The whale washed ashore Guadalupe last week.  She washed back out to sea Thursday and strong currents pushed her back onto the beach in Oceano Tuesday. Surf Beach Reopens After Forced Closure Do To Violations

Surf Beach at Vandenberg Air Force Base has been re-opened.  It closed on April 10th, after an increase in beach access violations during the Western Snowy Plover breeding season.
